Meet Us

Hello! We're Steve & Randi, owners of Deerwood Resort. Our story really begins in 1962. Randi's family began renting a small cabin on Big Portage Lake in August of that year. Her parent’s love of this beautiful lake brought the family back year after year. As we began to grow our own family, we brought our children to the cabin, which by now we had purchased, and the love of Big Portage Lake spread to them. With the birth of our first grandchild in 2018, It became clear that we were growing out of the little cabin. Just up the road was a small resort. It was opened in 1949 and was run by three generations of the same family. In October of 2018 Deerwood Resort went up for sale. We decided to look at it. The resort needed upgrades and some TLC. Realizing that this property could provide the same memories for future generations, we dove in. So here we are, hoping to see new families make life-long memories with their children and their grandchildren on this beautiful lake.

We're Nick & Kathy, on-site managers of Deerwood Resort. We've been full-time residents of Northern Wisconsin for almost 30 years, and there is no where we would rather be. Our kids grew up with the Vicenzi's kids, playing on the lake, and we have great memories of raising our family in this little slice of heaven. We're eager for you and your loved ones to experience the same joy and peace we've experienced here. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more special, please let us know!
